Krav Maga

Introduction

What is Krav Maga

Krav Maga is a self-defence and combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces and has been taught to police, military and thousands of civilians throughout the world. Krav Maga is a simple, effective self-defence system which uses instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios. The goal of Krav Maga is to bring students to a high level of proficiency in a short period of time. The methodologies originated with the teachings of Krav Maga founder Imi Lichtenfeld, who combined elements of boxing, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, wrestling, and high intensity interval training.

Benefits of Krav Maga

Krav Maga is made flexible to get the most out of your training time. High intensity classes help make you fitter, reduce stress levels, promote weight loss and provide a great boost of self-confidence.

Krav Maga is a philosophy more than just a sequence of strikes and blocks. The focus is on protecting your own (or your companions) life.

What you will learn

  • How to pre-empt, avoid and escape dangerous situations
  • Attacking and counter attacking skills using all parts of the body
  • How to defend yourself whilst on the ground
  • How to use common objects for self-defence and fighting
  • Defending a wide number of attacks (punches, kicks etc)
  • Defence techniques against armed threats (knives, sticks etc)
  • How to defend yourself against multiple attackers
  • How to defend other people (third party protection)

Training

Previous combat / martial arts experience is not necessary to learn Krav Maga. From the start you will learn stances, protective falling techniques, punching and defences against attacks such as headlocks and chokes.
At Krav Maga Institute we teach you how to deal with not just with a physical attack but how to perform under stress and learn awareness and prevention techniques that will help keep you from getting into potentially dangerous situations.

After mastering the basics, advanced students will train to deal with multiple simultaneous attackers, weapons, complicated situations, and learn advanced combative and weapon techniques (standing up or on the ground).

Self-defence means training under intense and unsettling circumstances. If you want to be able to react calmly during the unexpected, it’s critical that you train under stress. Join in, and do your best. All ages, shapes, and sizes can learn life-saving skills from Krav Maga training.
